John 1:29
  1. Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The Verse:

Back in the time of Jesus was a man named John
Who preached out in the wilderness, where he'd withdrawn
A message of repentance his words did declare
And to those who did accept it he did baptize there

He did baptize in the water and he spoke of one
Who would baptize them with fire 'cause he was God's son
And the thing that He would give them that they'd prize the most
Was the everlasting presence of the Holy Ghost

The person that would come, said John, “is mightier than I”
And he talked about the latchet of his shoes he could not tie
For he felt he was unworthy, and he gave as his excuse
That he could not bear the shoes or even make the laces loose

Then did Jesus come from Galilee to Jordan's bank
And did ask of John to baptize Him real clear and frank
But John forbad the Savior with these words, saith he
“I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?”

Then the Lord did speak to John with love and told him how
That it was the time for him to “Suffer it to be so now.”
'Cause he knew to do His work and that to be His best
That His baptism would fulfill all righteousness

So then John baptized the Lord and heaven opened above
And the Holy Ghost descended down just like a dove
And a voice was heard and all the pressure then did ease
“Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”

And then John did truly testify, though quite roughshod
That the person he had baptized was the Lamb of God
And he knew as he was standing where the water whirled
The Lord was He who taketh 'way the sins of the world
